This computer game adaption of Dick Francis' High Stakes is a definite departure from the usual adventure themes of fantasy and sci-fi. The story is centered around horse racing, a common theme through Francis' books, and is chock-full of mystery and suspense, enhanced by the real-time game play (things happen even if you don't type anything). Published a full year before Infocom's Border Zone adopted the same technique.
The book itself is one of Francis' biggest sellers in the U.S., and a lot of adventure fans rate this as Angelsoft's best title. Curiously, this one doesn't seem to attract quite the attention from fans of the book as do some of the other Angelsoft titles. (As collectors, we should be grateful for that.)
